Spirit of Gdańsk Show Lives On Polskie Radio
3
Radio 3 in Poland have exclusive rights to play
official mixes of three tracks from David's
live show in Gdańsk last August 26th. If, like
us, you missed the first one, perhaps you can
catch tomorrow's. Songs are: The Blue,
This Heaven, and Wish You Were Here,
and are broadcast (one track per day) on Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday of this week as part of
'Welcome to Radio 3' at around 8:50AM, local
time.

We Don't Need No Thought Con...(Well, Maybe
Just A Bit.)
Here at DavidGilmour.com we don't tell you what
to do, and we don't normally ask you to boost
the site, because you either like it or you
don't. We're not perfect, although we do try,
and we even attempt to learn from our mistakes
one of which was not to enter the (UK)
BT Digital Music Awards, so rest assured
DavidGilmour.com will NOT be winning 'Best Music
Site' or 'Best Music Blog' (cries of 'Fix!',
'Shame!', 'Sack the judges!' from offstage...).
However, we do have one last shot the
People's Choice Awards.
Well, we're all people, and throughout the On
An Island tour it's obvious that David
and his band have touched a few souls,
so why not support our youthful but heartfelt
community by voting for each other?
At the very least, a result would be a 'thank you'
to all the readers and contributors that have made
this site so vibrant. (And as Steve Forbert said,
'You cannot win if you do not play...'.)

No Waffle Just Mermaid For Belgium
Belgian radio station Classic 21 has
scheduled a broadcast of the BBC Radio 2 Mermaid
Theatre show, tomorrow night (September 8th)
at 9pm local time. Check out their Web site
here.

Take Up Thy Computer Mouse And Talk
DavidGilmour.com goes interactive in the finest example
of communication since Alan Partridge opened the phone
lines to farmers on Radio Norwich, with the launch
of our intermittent Chat
Room.
Due to open only at specified times, it is designed
to encourage only the wheat of chat no
chaff need apply. The ever-vigilant Features
Editor will be your chat room chum but
ever-ready to exclude anyone not playing by
the rules.
See today's entry on The
Blog, and enjoy the sight of real-time discussion
about sandwiches, cigars, much speculation and
a few musical comments. Make new friends, influence
people, or recreate the spirit of David on tour
it's up to you, but whatever you do
play nice...

Golden Numbers The Band Comes Together
To End At Abbey Road
On Tuesday afternoon, David and the band recorded
several songs for UK Channel 4's The Abbey
Road Sessions, due to be broadcast in the
UK on Sunday evening, December 3rd (exact time
is still tbc).
With a full live band set up in Studio One of
the legendary recording studio, it was full
circle for David, since the orchestral sessions
for On An Island were recorded there.
This time, the band performed several takes
of On An Island, The Blue, Take
A Breath, and Smile, from David's
On An Island album, as well as Astronomy
Domine from Pink Floyd's very first album,
The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, before
surprising everyone with an impromptu acoustic
portion of Echoes, which delighted all
those fortunate enough to be in attendance
including a small audience made up of competition
winners from The
Blog.
While waiting between takes for the cameras
to start rolling, the band merrily jammed on
tracks as diverse as The Beatles' Come Together,
Wild Cherry's Play That Funky Music (where
Steve DiStanislao showed off his vocal, as well
as his drumming, skills) and The Rolling Stones'
Play With Fire.
It was a fine way to close the tour in what
was David's final engagement of 2006.
We will, of course, let you know when you'll
be able to see it on a television set near you,
although the show producers' current plans indicate
European broadcasts for the series in Spring
2007, and across the US on Robert Redford's
new 'Sundance' Channel in June 2007. In the
UK, the series kicks off on Sunday 26th November
with The Who and two other, as yet unnamed,
artists.
