If you can view the Artsworld
channel in the UK (which can be found on Sky
digital channel 267), then you will be able
to enjoy David's performance at Nordoff-Robbins
Music Therapy's 2004 Strat Pack benefit on Thursday
30th November at 8AM (UK time).
A 50th anniversary concert celebrating the Fender
Stratocaster, David played Marooned,
Coming Back To Life, and Sorrow
the first of these with his famed 0001
Strat.
Other performers at the Wembley gig included
Hank Marvin, Joe Walsh, Phil Manzanera, Ronnie
Wood, Paul Rodgers, Brian May, Mike Rutherford,

of their work for many years.
This concert is also available on DVD as Strat

UK Music Hall of Fame
Fans in the UK can tonight tune in to the third
UK Music Hall of Fame awards ceremony,
which was held at London's Alexandra Palace
on Tuesday night.
|
|
|
The UK
Music Hall of Fame recognises the most
important artists of the past 50 years
from all over the world.
David was proud and privileged to be able
to usher in one of his own musical heroes,
the legendary Beach Boy, Brian Wilson.
Other inductees were Sir George Martin,
Led Zeppelin, Prince, James Brown, Rod
Stewart, Dusty Springfield, and Bon Jovi.
They were selected by a panel of 60 artists,
music industry executives, broadcasters,
and journalists.
David was himself inducted, with Pink
Floyd, in 2005. |
You can see the whole show tonight from 9PM
(UK time) on Channel 4.
Fans in the US will be able to see the ceremony
on VH1 at 9PM (Eastern time) on Saturday 25th
November.

Save Those Record Tokens For Arnold Layne
|
|
|
Some festive
fun is promised in the holiday season
with the release of Arnold Layne
from the Royal Albert Hall. Two versions
of the song will be available one
with David Bowie as featured vocalist,
and the other with our very own Richard
Wright singing lead. Both are taken from
David's concerts at the Royal Albert Hall,
while completing the package is an acoustic
performance by David of Dark Globe
on his own from the summer European dates. |
Both songs were of course written by the late
Roger 'Syd' Barrett and all the tracks offer
interesting alternative versions to Syd's renditions
(Arnold Layne was Pink Floyd's first
single way back in the 1960s, while Dark
Globe can be found on Syd's first solo album,
The Madcap Laughs).
Because of the need to offer digital versions,
the release schedule is a little complicated,
but essentially all tracks will be previewed
here in December, and we're planning to make
them downloadable on Christmas Day, with physical
copies in shops on Boxing Day, 26th December.
There will be limited quantities (at least three
weeks' worth of sales, don't worry) of vinyl
singles on 7" in Europe and on 10" in
North America. If you're not a singles buyer
and want to save your cash for the 'Live at
The Royal Albert Hall' David Gilmour DVD, it's
planned to include both 'Arnold' versions, although
not Dark Globe at the moment.

Later, But Bigger! On An Island 2-pack details...
You may remember our announcement re: the special
edition of On An Island, shortly to be
available. It includes the whole of the On
An Island album, plus an extra DVD. The
NEW news is that David decided to add a first
sample of the Royal Albert Hall DVD, and it
is Take A Breath.
|
|
|
Therefore
it's now an 8-track DVD:
1. Take A Breath (live from the
Royal Albert Hall)
2. Astronomy Domine (live at Abbey
Road)
and from the AOL Sessions, New York:
3. On An Island
4. This Heaven
5. Smile
6. Take A Breath
7. High Hopes
8. Comfortably Numb |
In Europe, via EMI, there will be the original
album package in book form, with the DVD mounted
on a circular tab inside the front cover. The
cloth has a natty dark red colour with foil-blocked
silver lettering, plus a red sticker advising
the contents. In North America, via SonyBMG,
the original album package will stay the same,
with the DVD in a card wallet shrinkwrapped
to the back of the album sleeve.
Instore dates have gone back a week from previously
advised, to: Europe Monday 27th November;
the rest of the world Tuesday 28th
November.
If you just want to see the New York sessions
and free they are still available
at AOL
Sessions. Check the 'Sessions Archive'
section. If you have already purchased On
An Island and want just the bonus DVD, we
have arranged to make a limited quantity available
via this Web site from the day of release
more details soon.
Three songs from David's performance at Abbey
Road studios are included in the TV series 'Live
From Abbey Road', to be aired in the UK on Channel
4. We had hoped that transmission would have
been before Christmas, but we've just been told
that the series now begins in January 2007.
Fullest details when we have them.

David and Polly March to Stop Climate Chaos
|
|
|
David
and Polly joined an estimated 25,000 protestors
in London's Trafalgar Square on Friday
3rd November, demanding that the UK government
brings an end to climate chaos.
Long time supporters of myriad environmental
causes, they took part in the public demonstration
organised by Stop
Climate Chaos a coalition
of various unions and organisations
which is calling for a Climate Bill to
make it a legal requirement that UK greenhouse
gas emissions fall by at least 3% each
year. |
The I
Count campaign also calls on Tony Blair
to ensure the irreversible decline of global
greenhouse gas emissions by 2015 and to deliver
assistance to developing countries, so that
they may be given access to clean energy in
order to meet their developmental needs.
Our thanks to Polly of The
Lazy Environmentalist and Chris of Conscience
UK for the photograph.
