Here Comes The Sundance – Abbey Road TX in US

For our readers in the US, 'TX' doesn't now mean Texas, but 'Transmission', since we now have details of the Sundance Channel's airings of the Live From Abbey Road series. Apparently, it will have a regular 10PM slot from June 21st (no indication of whether they mean PST, EST, or Miller Time, so check out your local TV listings for details).

David's section is in Show 5, broadcast on July 19th, and it will be the same show as previously seen, which also showcased Amos Lee, plus Joe Sample with Randy Crawford. The US season comprises 12 shows, and other featured artists include Norah Jones, Snow Patrol, Shawn Colvin, Dr. John, Dave Matthews, Wynton Marsalis, and Paul Simon amongst others.

Non-US viewers will be pleased to know that the LFAR show has now been promised to 107 countries; more specific details as we get them. Click here for the official Web site.

Addendum for OZ

Australian LFAR News: David's episode is being shown on Sunday 20th May on MAX (available on Foxtel Digital and Austar Digital). The entire series is being repeated on the same channel over the weekend of 23/24 June; six episodes are to be screened back-to-back from 11AM each day.

Bruce Springsteen topped the list, with The Raconteurs second. Numbers 4 to 10 were: (4) Arctic Monkeys; (5) Red Hot Chili Peppers; (6) The Who; (7) Oasis; (8) Kasabian; (9) Muse; and (10) Morrissey.

Lest we forget, David's 2006 live band included Richard Wright, Phil Manzanera, Jon Carin, Guy Pratt, Steve DiStanislao, and the incomparable Dick Parry, all of course featured in the forthcoming DVD Remember That Night: Live At The Royal Albert Hall.

Map And Look Here

More exciting additions to the ever-expanding DavidGilmour.com site can be found at the Stuff & Nonsense page.

As well as a guide to getting the maximum value out of the Chat Room, you will see that the Webmaster has implemented a World GuestMap. Not only can you give other readers knowledge of your whereabouts, basking in the glory of your country's contribution to the world as we know it, but you can even choose your own national flag to plant on your own home territory. Before you ask, yes, we do have Peru, Turkmenistan, and of course Wales, so there's no excuse – get mapping now!

And as if that wasn't enough, you can add a pertinent comment, Borat-style, extolling the virtues of your very own neck of the woods. As usual, we reserve the right to excise any adverts, impertinent requests or non-fraternal intercontinental remarks, so please think global – don't act loco.

Some Birthday Greetings

Today is the birthday of David Gilmour CBE, a man who has thrilled the world with his singing and guitar playing, and who delighted fans with the release of On An Island, the album released a year ago today. As well as entering the UK charts at Number 1 and the US charts at Number 6, On An Island topped the European charts and became Platinum in many countries around the world, including the UK and Canada. Many happy returns!

Needless to say, it's also the birthday of other creative persons, so a tip of the hat to the following as well: Kiki Dee; Gabriel Garcia Marquez; Dame Kiri Te Kanawa; Mary Wilson of The Supremes; and (one for Blue Peter fans) John Noakes.
