OAIPod – in a Flash!

Ever since the looped versions of mystery tunes appeared at random on this Web site, DavidGilmour.com aficionados have been asking for more information and the chance to replay them.

Well, wait no longer, loop fans, for your player of choice has arrived – it's the OAIPod, including some of the Web loops, available on demand at the click of a mouse.

Apparently, a 'Flash' player is "the high-performance, lightweight, highly expressive client runtime that delivers powerful and consistent user experiences across major operating systems, browsers, mobile phones, and devices" (rather than a comment on the design), but you don't need to know that – all you need to know is that it is working NOW on the
Stuff & Nonsense page. Go there and click away for a selection of tracks to enjoy at will.

Get 'Flashing', but don't forget to turn off the music on this page first...

Coming to a (small) screen near you...

David's going to be on TV a fair bit this week. Tonight, you can catch him on Discovery Real Time (Sky 250, Virgin 271) at 9.00PM, as Three Men In A Boat is being given a welcome repeat broadcast.

If you haven't seen it before, then it features three comedians – Dara O'Briain, Griff Rhys-Jones, and Rory McGrath – who journey up the Thames from Kingston to Oxford in a rowing boat. As they seek to recreate the journey immortalised by Jerome K. Jerome in his 1889 comedy classic of the same name, they pay David a visit aboard his houseboat-recording studio, Astoria, and stay long enough to listen to Smile.

Tomorrow night, fans in the United States get to finally see the excellent Live From Abbey Road session on the Sundance channel at 10.00PM (E/P). There are repeats on Saturday (2.00AM), Sunday (9.00PM) and Tuesday (6.00PM), so you've no excuse to miss it.

The critically-acclaimed music series will also be televised in HD, starting next month, on Universal's HD channel.

And last, but not least (and not even on a screen), the postponed BBC Radio 2 documentary, The Thing About Syd, is aired on Saturday at 8.00PM.

David is one of many interviewed for this new documentary about the late, great, Syd Barrett, who died last year.

If you can't tune in, then you can listen online. As well as live streaming, there is also a handy 'Listen Again' feature, which allows you to replay any programme for a period of seven days following its original broadcast.

Broadcast in High Definition to participating cinemas, the 85-minute programme will be introduced by David himself, performing live on electric guitar for one number. New and Improved...

The Blog hasn't been the only part of the site that's been working overtime this week to keep you informed about David's forthcoming DVD, Remember That Night (out in September). We also have a new and improved On An Island section that will help you find out more about events leading up to this exciting release – not least a five-minute taster of what you can expect from the DVD.

You'll notice that what was once a page of considerable length has now been broken down into several pages, hopefully making it easier to find what you're looking for. So, whether it's David Bowie singing Arnold Layne that you're after, or biographies on all the fine musicians who took David's chart-topping album on the road, you should be able to find it – and more – with just a few mouse clicks.
