PINK FLOYD AND ROGER WATERS CATEGORICALLY DENY RUMOURS OF A PINK FLOYD TOUR

Pink Floyd's David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright are joined by Roger Waters in categorically stating that there is no truth in the recent news reports about a Pink Floyd tour planned for this Autumn.

David Gilmour: "Since Live 8 there are certain sections of the media that have deliberately misled fans and public by inventing stories and quotes about Pink Floyd touring; Nick, Richard, Roger and I are telling fans directly that this is not happening. We are also asking the various parties who are fabricating these stories to desist, if only for the sake of the fans".

Albert Hall Targets eBay Reselling

Some questions have come to the FAQs page, asking about the validity of tickets sold on eBay for various David Gilmour shows, as we highlighted on The Blog on December 27th. So far, only London's Royal Albert Hall has taken a stance against tickets re-sold on eBay and other sites, and actively seeks to prevent the practice.

Promoters Harvey Goldsmith Ltd. obtained the following statement from the Royal Albert Hall: "Sale of tickets to the public are limited to four per person and cannot be exchanged, refunded or re-sold. Any tickets sold by the Royal Albert Hall which are found to have been re-sold will be cancelled. Tickets will not be sent out until one month before the performance and the fact that tickets may not be re-sold will be clearly printed on the face of the tickets. Where we have sufficient details about the tickets that are being re-sold, we notify the customer that we are cancelling the ticket, refund the purchase price, cancel the original tickets and then put the seats on sale again to the public. We would strongly caution people against purchasing tickets from sources other than the Royal Albert Hall Box Office and authorised agents, as tickets purchased from these sources may be refused entry".

The Royal Albert Hall has staff that scan eBay for tickets that are being offered for sale, so there is a very real possibility that your sought-after pair of David's London show tickets from eBay may be invalidated.

At the moment, the Royal Albert Hall is the only venue that we know to operate this policy, but this may of course change in the future.

Band Members Confirmed for On An Island Tour

David Gilmour has assembled a brilliant band of world renowned musicians, who will join him to play the sell-out 25-date On An Island tour. The tour, David's first since the record-breaking 1994 Pink Floyd Division Bell tour, starts in Europe in March, goes to North America in April and returns to the UK at the end of May. On An Island, the wonderful new album, is released on March 6th, 2006.

The musicians in David Gilmour's band are:

Phil Manzanera – Roxy Music guitarist and co-producer of 'On An Island'
Richard Wright – Pink Floyd's keyboard player
Guy Pratt – bass player with Pink Floyd and Roxy Music
Jon Carin – keyboards and longtime player with Pink Floyd
Steve DiStanislao – drums, recently played with Crosby & Nash

The concert set-list is still to be decided but is likely to combine David's favourite Pink Floyd tracks with tracks from On An Island.

Formats Clarified

Just to clarify certain erroneous reports that have appeared elsewhere, the worldwide CD format of On An Island will be a single CD. There are no current plans for any multi-disc versions. The album will also be released on vinyl, in a single-LP format.

On An Island – the news you've all been waiting for...

David Gilmour's third album On An Island is due to be released worldwide on March 6th, 2006.

Produced by David, with Phil Manzanera and Chris Thomas, the album features orchestrations by renowned Polish composer Zbigniew Preisner.

Although David's unique vocal and instrumental talents are to the fore, On An Island also features many very special guests.

David Crosby and Graham Nash sing harmonies; Robert Wyatt plays cornet and percussion; Guy Pratt plays bass; Caroline Dale contributes on cello; and Alasdair Molloy performs on glass harmonica.

Pink Floyd's Richard Wright also guests on Hammond organ and vocals.

Of the album's ten tracks, all music is written by David Gilmour, with lyrics by writer Polly Samson, (they collaborated on lyrics on two songs), while three tracks are purely instrumental, with David's expressive guitar to the fore. On An Island sees David's full range of instrumental ability, including his performances on piano, bass guitar, percussion, bass harmonica, Hammond organ, and his recording debut on the saxophone. Other contributors include Jools Holland, Phil Manzanera, Georgie Fame, Andy Newmark, BJ Cole, Chris Stainton, Willie Wilson, and Rado 'Bob' Klose on guitar.

David has commented: "It's my best and most personal work. Making it with my musician friends has been a positive experience on so many levels".

Please see the Press page for the full press release. For more information, see the Discography.

US Tickets Gone in 60 Seconds

Thanks to the power of computing technology, the remainder of the tickets via Ticketmaster for David's US & Canadian dates were apparently sold within a minute at the weekend, with some hopefuls unable to purchase tickets online even at the precise opening time. Apologies for not having been able to flag up the full details of box office opening times, but there was a technical fault with our server from Friday until today.

Luckily our fearless Features Editor was able to keep readers updated via The Blog, so the lesson is – always check that section. It seems as though many fans were able to get through at the appointed hour, but sadly as many weren't lucky, and may have to make alternative arrangements. As always, please keep checking with local ticket sellers, because they do get returns from agencies and some individuals.

In the UK, there is also some concern about the exact seating arrangements for the Advance Tickets via Trinity Street Ltd. We will ask them to advise shortly with more details.

Several people have noted the 'Comments' design on The Blog, which makes it appear that the poster's name is above the comment, whereas in fact it is below the line underneath the comment. We have asked our technical experts to redesign this feature and expect a resolution very shortly.

Advance Tickets Sold Out, but Tickets Go On Sale on Friday

The 'Advance Booking' tickets for the new shows at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall and Glasgow's Clyde Auditorium have now sold out, but don't forget that the remainder of the tickets for these extra dates will go on sale this Friday, January 13th. Please see the live dates section for full details.

Extra UK Shows

More good news: David will be adding two new gigs to his tour, both of which are in the UK. David will be at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall on Friday 26th May and at Glasgow's Clyde Auditorium on Saturday 27th May. Tickets for these shows go on sale on Friday 13th January, so be lucky (in spite of the ominous date).

We will be offering Advance Ticket Booking for 250 pairs of tickets for each of these shows. As was the case with the three London shows, the first 250 people to express their interest in purchasing a pair of tickets will have a chance to obtain priority tickets on a first come, first served basis. Once this quota has been filled, tickets will go on sale to the general public, so if you are not one of the lucky 250, then fear not – you will still have a chance to purchase tickets through the venue's relevant Box Office at a slightly later date.

Please note that there are no plans to add further shows in any country. This addition concludes David's 2006 tour schedule.

Extra US Tickets

If you're not sitting down, then please sit before you read the following.

More tickets are to go on sale for all of David's North American gigs. That's each show in New York, Toronto, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. These tickets go on sale on Saturday 14th January at 12 noon local time, and will sell out quickly, so be prepared for the scramble.

Visit Ticketmaster for details on how to book your preferred show online. Please note that there's no Internet pre-sale (please ignore the Ticketmaster mention of 'DavidGilmour.com' – it's not relevant), no fan club to join, and no promotional codes to request. That's all we can do for you – other than wishing you the very best of luck, of course.
