The Titan Of Tone (Says Guitarist Magazine)
David makes the cover of the latest Guitarist
magazine in the UK, having topped a poll of great
individual guitar tones. The search for top tone is
the guitarist's grail quest – the perfect balance
of guitar, amplifier, effects and technique that separates
the masters from the apprentices.
Of course, it's always a personal choice, but just
for the record, David's second solo in Comfortably
Numb beat such greats as Jimi Hendrix (2), Eddie
Van Halen (3), Brian May (4), and Stevie Ray Vaughan
(5), for the top slot. Other great tone purveyors
listed included Slash, Hank Marvin, Angus Young, Eric
Clapton, Billy Gibbons, George Harrison, Peter Green,
and many other influential players.
